Honey is used for many things in bees world!!I don't think any animal can mess with honey bees. They have a toxic organ in their butt.
As for what they eat, I think they take care of finding their own food. They send scouts all around the nest (sometimes miles away) to find sugar related materials, pollen and flowers to produce their food supply and the honey we like so much.bees live on nectar from flowers, and hibernate in winter.
