Why call it the Enhanced Fujita Scale?
Who or what was the Enhanced Fujita Scale named after? It is called the enhanced Fujita scale because it was based off the original Fujita scale which rated tornadoes F-0 through F-5 based on their damage (and F-6 through F-12 but only theoretically). Dr. Tetsuya "Theodore" Fujita, one of the foremost experts in the field of observational tornado research, came up with the system in order to compare different tornadoes and form a climatology based on strength. Recently engineers and meteorologists worked together to improve the scale, resulting in the Enhanced Fujita scale.

The scales are partially down the page.Correction to the original fine answer....it was the Fujita Pearson Scale that became the Fujita Scale and then the Enhanced Fujita Scale...Good answer. Report It Exactly what the meteorologist said.
