Do landlines usually go out during hurricanes/major storms or is this a myth?
Everything goes during a major hurricane.....it's a frightenig experience to live through, but the weeks following a hurricane are a real nightmare.unfortunately... they do!! And cell phone towers get messed up as well.....After Katrina I didn't speak to anyone in my family for 2 1/2 weeks!!!!..we didn't get land lines back for another 4. (public ones).. some waited mos and mos to have theirs back...it's devastatingyeah, lots of phone cable in the states is aerial in parts. often get blown down or knocked down by falling trees.Even buried cable sometimes comes out of the ground to cross rivers and streams and then goes back down.
